Adoption

A couple months ago I was linked to another blog through a friend.  She is passionate about adoption and I was excited to read her post.  As I was there I started reading her adoption journey.  It was AMAZING to say the least.   One post in particular that really got to me was this last post HERE.  I encourage you to read it because it is beautiful, but for the sake of the rest of this post, I will reprise it briefly: They entered into adoption on the promise of a friend that said they wanted to pay for it, in the end, the friend couldn't follow through on her promise and God provided in miraculous ways for them to afford to adopt.  The whole point of her post is to never let money be the one thing that stands between you and adoption.  

I feel like God personally invited us to attend this conference today.  We were so overwhelmed with where to start, who to talk to, where to turn, and about two weeks ago, out of the blue we received an invitation for anyone at our church interested in adoption (HELLO!) to attend a free (HELLO!) conference at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with free Chick-fil-a for lunch (HELLO!).  Completely God!  We immediately called and signed up.  I was expecting that we would learn more about types of adoption-which we did, and legal stuff and home study info-which we did, and how to choose an adoption agency.  What God did was so much more.

God met us there at that conference and unified our hearts to His plan for us involving adoption. He revealed to us clearly what type of adoption to pursue (Infant adoption through an agency) and what agency to go through!  We are currently filling out the pre-application to go through a Christian adoption agency based out of Abilene.  We heard from so many people who work there both in our sessions, and just others attending the conference.  At the end of the day we had a great conversation with the Vice President of the agency and both walked away from it with a Divine Peace that we had just found our agency!  It is a small agency and we are so excited to begin this process.  We are hoping to get our pre-application in within the next week in hopes of going to an Orientation course in April.  

So what does this have to do with the blog post I mentioned earlier?  Well, our adoption is going to end up costing us around $25,000.  As you may have guessed, we don't have $25,000 lying around...surprise surprise.  However, we are not going to let it stand in the way.  We had expectations for this conference and God showed up and showed us how small our expectations were.  He exceeded them.  To me $25,000 seems like a HUGE number...and it is...but I believe that God is bigger and will provide for all of our needs with this adoption just like He has provided for all of our needs with everything else He has called us to.   Thank you so much for your prayers today...they were felt!  We would love for you to pray with us through this journey as well!
